I didn’t hold back the tears threatening to flow
When the sunset did glimmer its final glow,
I watched as the dim curtain drew in
And felt its strong arms imprisoned me then.
I could not wrestle off his steel hold,
Tenacious was he, so I’ve been told.
Oh, I recall a few wanted to put out my fire,
Too obsessed to extinguish the very last spark.
But I couldn’t watch them enjoy the liberty
To be triumphant in making my hope flicker away.
For, he aimed to switch off the last spark
When he held me captive in the dark.
But I cannot lose again against this monster
So I won’t hold my hands up in surrender.
